If you came by here in the last few days, you’ve seen that we celebrated Dot Day this week with younger students. We created a collaborative poem about our dots, and I made an Animoto video. The post is here.
In my Voxer conversation about Writing about Reading, someone (I think it was Phyllis Sutton, but I’m not sure) suggested trying out Sway as a presentation platform. Sway is new to me. I wanted to give it a try before telling my students (and you) about it.
The platform is similar to PowerPoint in that you add slides. The slide can contain a graphic and text. I saved my Dot Day pictures in Dropbox. It was easy to navigate back and forth using tabs. The end product looks like a board similar to Padlet. To navigate to each slide, you scroll.
I plan to introduce my students to this new app and add it to our ever-growing list of presentation apps.
Click on the picture to go to the Sway. Because of the private images, I set it so that only those with a link can view it. That’s yet another cool feature of Sway. Try it out. Let me know what you think.

Next week, there will be no Digital Literacy Sunday because I will be traveling.
Sway is a new tool for me. I love the final product and it sounds like it was easy to use. It’ll be interesting to see what your kids can do with it. Thank you for sharing!
Margaret,
Thanks for the final push. Some colleagues have been discussing Sway in one of my Voxer groups. I have wanted to play with it, but just hadn’t taken the plunge. When I read your post this morning it seemed meant to be. I headed over to Sway to give it a try. I think I have a lot to learn about making a presentation user friendly. There seem many more possibilities — and I’ve just touched the surface.
What a great way to share your Dot Day creations! Thanks for continually inspiring.
Cathy
Margaret, I did try out Sway earlier. I tried to make a trailer for Summer Splashings but it was not easy for me with this site. I shared the process at http://beyondliteracylink.blogspot.com/2015/08/digital-expressions.html. I revisited the site after I read your piece this morning and know that I need much more practice.
Margaret, I love what you and your students did with Sway. It seems so effortless so I need to check out the program again. I also need to make time to read through the other posts here. My digital experience today is filled with trying to design my associations’ newspaper with Pages.
Love this! It is like padlet but better in terms of graphics. I’m going to try this on an iPad. See how it goes. Thanks so much for sharing.
